So happy to have my single Autumn's Song featured on the Stollery Children's Hospital website! You can visit it at http://www.stollerykids.com/
Most importantly, when you purchase Autumn's Song on iTunes, all the proceeds are donated to the Stollery and that money matched by the World Financial Group Charitable Foundation.
Why donate to the Stollery? Where does that money go?
What is so incredible is that the money donated goes towards equipment, which made my experience quite unique. When I went in for surgery, which I'll share my story in a moment, there was a machine at that time only available at the Stollery and a hospital in Toronto. If it weren't for that machine I would look very different today. For that, I am thankful.
My story on how the Stollery Childrens Hospital touched my life.
When I was 11 year's old, I found out I had scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. My best friend, Lindsay, noticed my shoulder blade sticking out further than the other. My nickname at that time was chicken wing!
On December 12th, when I was 13 year's old, I went ahead with the surgery, which took place at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, AB. I will always remember the gigantic card my classmates made for me from Fultonvale, I love them all so much for that! They are very clever, as I now have 2 rods down my spine, and they nicknamed me Rodney. I don't know why.... :)
I did have some complications during the surgery, which was detected by a specific machine the hospital had me attached too. Made quite a difference, when it comes to my quality of life. I am so grateful.
The fundraised money goes towards new equipment at the hospital, so for a way for me to give back, I wrote this song.
I can't thank the Stollery enough, and all my family and classmates at that time who showed their support. Thank you!
